Superintendent's Message

Robin Hurst
Supervisor of Instruction

The students of Lyon County Schools deserve the best.  It is the belief of Lyon County Schools that every student receive the education they need as a solid foundation for their future.  Students need a well-rounded education that includes fundamental skills in math, reading, science, and social studies.  Beyond that, our students need exposure to the arts, technical skills, technology, and more.  Through the various opportunities we provide students, they learn important skills such as problem-solving, critical thinking, leadership, and team work.

The wonderful educators of Lyon County Schools are dedicated to our students.  They recognize the importance of meeting the needs of every student.  For some students, this might mean a little extra encouragement and support.  For others, it might mean challenging our students when things come a little too easy.  Without question, our teachers and staff love and respect our students.  They truly care about the well-being of each student.  I’m proud of the dedicated professionals that make Lyon County Schools great.

Lyon County Schools would be limited without the overwhelming support of our families and community.  The generosity of this community to our schools is phenomenal.  The commitment of time by countless numbers of volunteers, as well as other resources throughout the community, truly makes a difference. A long-standing tradition of excellence continues today only with the support from the community.  You make the difference.

As Superintendent of Lyon County Schools, I am thankful to work with an outstanding Board of Education in serving the students and families of this community.  The Board members are focused on the needs of our students and community as they make decisions that impact our schools.

Lyon County recognizes that our children are the future.  I am proud of the work we are doing today to provide students the opportunity for a brighter tomorrow.
