State Preschool Program (KERA Preschool): State preschool is targeted to two groups of eligible children who are entitled to services if their parents choose to enroll them: 4-year-olds, who are at 160% of the poverty level and 3 or 4-year-olds with disabilities, regardless of income. The preschool program is designed to reduce barriers to learning by providing developmentally appropriate preschool education along with screening and coordination of health and social services. Classes run Monday through Thursday from 8:00-11:00 or 12:00-3:00. Lunch is served to both classes and limited transportation offered. Tuition seats are available for 3 and 4-year-olds who do not qualify for Head Start or KERA preschool programs. These spaces are available on a first come, first serve basis and require a $125 monthly fee. Class sessions meet for three hours, Monday through Thursday. Limited transportation is provided for an additional monthly fee. All Preschool programs operate for 128 days and follow district decisions for snow days and holidays. Classes usually begin the week after K-12 students begin and will conclude before the end of spring term. Amy Perdue is the Preschool Director.
