Driver Testing and Motorcycle Testing every second and fourth Friday

Parenting Classes start in February

Family Resource and Youth Center's Parenting Classes will start in February for the Christmas Angel Tree. Dates will be announced at a later date.

No school Jan. 21

Lyon County Schools will not be in session on Monday, Jan. 21 in observance of Martin Luther King Jr. Day. 

Health Council meeting Jan. 17

The Lyon County Schools District Health Council will meet at 1 p.m.Thursday, Jan. 17 in the District Conference Room.

Health Fair Jan. 31

The health fair is set for Thursday, Jan. 31 from 4-6 p.m. at the Lyon County Middle School.

Paint Night Jan. 25

A fun night of creating and socializing while raising funds for Dolly Parton's Imagination Library. 

Volunteer information

If you are interested in volunteering at school, chaperoning a field  trip, etc., a child/abuse neglect form must be filled out and sent in to the Cabinet for Health and Family Services. Once this form is received back volunteer request can be submitted. These forms are on the district page under forms and links, miscellaneous links. The child/abuse neglect form takes 4-6 weeks to process and the volunteer request takes 1-5 days.

    The third Friday of each month, after 3:00 P.M., routine pesticide treatments will be performed in all buildings.  Services are done by HomePro Advantage using Lambda Cyhalothrin (9.7%) with a pressure sprayer to classrooms, offices, hallways, restrooms and utility areas. Targeted pests are spiders, ants, beetles, etc. MSDS information is available upon request.  If your child has any allergies to such treatments, please call Chad Jezik, Safety Director, at (270) 388-9308.  His office is located at 217 Jenkins Road, Eddyville, Kentucky.

    What: A fun night of creating and socializing while making a 16X20 canvas of this Lyon to keep. No experience needed. Art Teacher Amy Beard of Lyon County Schools will facilitate the event. Refreshments will be served.

    When and where: At 4:30 p.m. Friday, Jan. 25 at the Lyon County Elementary School Art Room.

    Who: The public is invited.

    Why: Proceeds from this event will go towards Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library to encourage parents to read to their children before they start school. 

    Cost: $15 per person

    Register: RSVP by calling 270-388-9715 ext. 407 with your name, number and method of payment.
